How Do We Miss It?

Rush hour sneaks up again
The only time she's sitting still
In another day of black book plans
Every waking moment's filled
Behind her the sun begins to set
Closer than it appears
Spraying wisps of blue and red
Across her rear-view mirror

But she won't know what she has missed
And soon the moment's passed
When we will we realize
We're living life too fast?

There's so much beauty in the world
How do we miss it

Another night he spends alone
As he works his way towards middle age
Each night he brings the office home
His family sees him slip away
Out in the hallway stands a child
Watching her father from the door
If only he stopped to catch her smile
He'd remember who all of this was for
